چکیده
Objectives: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is frequently present co-morbid condition in patients admitted with acute heart failure (AHF). This study aimed to determine the frequency of in-hospital mortality AHF presenting AKI. Methodology: descriptive case series AKI was conducted at a tertiary care cardiac hospital Karachi, Pakistan. In accordance “Risk, Injury, Failure, Loss, and End‐Stage Renal Disease (RIFLE) scale," defined as 3.0‐fold increase serum creatinine (sCr) or sCr > 4.0 mg/dL within 48 hours. All were followed for seven days order assess outcome variable, i.e., mortality. Results: A total 149 included mean age 59.7 ± 11.03 years, 80 (53.7%) male. Hypertensive 59.1% (88) sample, 38.9% (58) diabetics. In-hospital found 11 (7.4%) patients. The rate 14.1% vs. 2.4%; p=0.008 among >60 40 60 respectively. 12.5% 3.5%; p=0.038 diabetic non-diabetic Similarly, 11.4% 1.6%, p=0.022, hypertensive non-hypertensive Conclusion: It conclude that carries significant burden significantly higher older conditions such hypertension diabetes.

Acute Kidney Injury in Pediatric Heart Failure
Acute kidney injury (AKI) is very common in pediatric medical and surgical cardiac patients. Not only is it an independent risk factor for increased morbidity and mortality in the short run, but repeated episodes of AKI lead to chronic kidney disease (CKD) especially in the most vulnerable hosts with multiple risk factors, such as heart transplant recipients. The cardiorenal syndrome, a term co...
متن کاملIn Nonagenarians, Acute Kidney Injury Predicts In-Hospital Mortality, while Heart Failure Predicts Hospital Length of Stay
BACKGROUND/AIMS The elderly constitute an increasing proportion of admitted patients worldwide. We investigate the determinants of hospital length of stay and outcomes in patients aged 90 years and older. METHODS We retrospectively analyzed all admitted patients aged >90 years from the general medical wards in a tertiary referral medical center between August 31, 2009 and August 31, 2012. Pat...
متن کاملDifferent Biomarkers of Acute kidney Injury in Cancer Patients
Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) occurs if the kidneys suddenly lose their ability to remove waste products. When the kidneys lose their ability to filter, dangerous levels of waste products can accumulate, which can upset the chemical composition of the blood and urine. Chemotherapy is one of the methods used to treat or temporarily reduce cancer by using certain medications. The main task of this tr...
متن کاملImportance of RIFLE (Risk, Injury, Failure, Loss, and End-Stage Renal Failure) and AKIN (Acute Kidney Injury Network) in Hemodialysis Initiation and Intensive Care Unit Mortality
Our study evaluated the differences between early and late hemodialysis (HD) initiation in the intensive care unit (ICU) according to the RIFLE (Risk, Injury, Failure, Loss, and End-stage renal failure) and AKIN (Acute Kidney Injury Network) classifications. On the assumption that early initiation of HD in critical patients according to the RIFLE and AKIN criteria decreases mortality, we retros...
متن کاملSerum gamma-glutamyl transferase levels and in-hospital mortality in patients with acute heart failure.
BACKGROUND Acute heart failure (AHF) is a major cause of hospitalisation, morbidity and mortality worldwide. Gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT) is an enzyme responsible for the extracellular catabolism of antioxidant glutathione and a potential risk indicator of cardiac mortality. Limited data exists on the prognostic value of circulating levels of GGT in patients hospitalized due to AHF. AIM T...
